Amiyah, a high school freshman, carries strength that shows up in everything she does. Despite facing significant loss, she keeps moving forward with determination and hope, showing up for her classes and for herself with a resilience that’s easy to admire. Amiyah was selected for CBR YouthConnect’s HERO-WITHIN program, part of the Resilience Initiative honoring Colorado youth who demonstrate exceptional resilience in the face of adversity. Through the program’s Special Opportunity Grant, she chose a laptop to support her studies and her future plans.
Amiyah is using it to keep up with schoolwork, explore new opportunities, and work toward a future that includes travel with her grandmother, studying abroad, and — her ultimate goal — attending Princeton University. Amiyah’s story isn’t just about overcoming what she’s been through. It’s about choosing to believe her future can be bigger than her past.
