CBR YouthConnect was delighted to partner once again with Crazy Hair Alpacas for a fun and meaningful two-day visit to Lumberg Elementary School on September 29th and 30th. Around 400 students had the chance to meet Andrea Blocher’s adorable alpacas, learn about their gentle nature, and explore how connecting with animals can support kindness, compassion, and resilience.
In addition to meeting the alpacas, students created bookmarks with real alpaca fleece and sheep wool, enjoyed alpaca coloring sheets, and received alpaca keychains. These creative, sensory activities helped students learn about animals and remember the experience in a meaningful way.
As one staff member shared,
“Most of our students have never seen an alpaca in real life, so it was a very cool moment for them. One student almost started crying because he said alpacas are his favorite animal and had always wanted to see one in real life.”
This quote speaks to the impact of human-animal connections and reminds us how powerful these experiences can be in building understanding and emotional growth.
CBR YouthConnect extends a warm thank you to Andrea Blocher and Crazy Hair Alpacas for bringing such joy and inspiration to the Lumberg Elementary community. We look forward to more opportunities to share these experiences with our fuzzy friends soon!
