We are proud to share that CBR YouthConnect is sponsoring the 2025-2026 Research Seminar Series presented by the Institute for Human-Animal Connection (IHAC) at the University of Denver!
The first seminar, “Adopters Welcome: A Framework for Removing Barriers to Pet Adoption,” took place on October 22nd, both in-person and online. This seminar focused on how shelter and rescue organizations can reduce systemic barriers (such as complex pass/fail applications) by including empathetic conversation-based approaches with the goal of making adoption more inclusive and compassionate.
Lindsay Hamrick, Director of Shelter Outreach for Humane World for Animals, shared her expertise on creating barrier-free adoption programs and discussed IHAC’s research on the impact for both animals and communities. Attendees left with the recognition that more inclusive adoption approaches not only support potential adopters, but also expand the collection of loving homes for animals in need.
As sponsor of IHAC’s 2025-2026 Research Seminar Series, CBR YouthConnect is excited to support our community in this important work and highlight initiatives that foster compassionate connections between humans and animals. We are looking forward to the next winter seminar and hope you can join us!
