Standing Strong for Colorado Youth

At CBR YouthConnect, we believe transparency is essential to the trust you place in us, and we want to share an important update with our supporters.

Beginning in 2025, Flipcause, a widely used third-party online donation processing platform serving thousands of nonprofits nationwide, began failing to remit charitable funds donated through its platform to the organizations they were intended to support. On December 19, 2025, Flipcause filed a petition for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and an estimated $29 million in charitable funds owed to more than 3,000 nonprofit organizations nationwide are now subject to those proceedings (see article here). Unfortunately, CBR YouthConnect is one of the impacted organizations.

We are deeply disappointed to report that approximately $73,000 in online credit card donations submitted through the Flipcause platform, which were intended to support CBR YouthConnect programs, were not remitted and are currently subject to the bankruptcy process. The Court has appointed a Trustee to oversee the case, and we are actively pursuing appropriate available options to recover these funds. Our Board has established a special committee to oversee this work in coordination with legal counsel, auditors, and financial advisors.

Please know that your gift has made its intended impact, and our work serving kids has continued without interruption. When Flipcause failed to remit donated funds, the CBR Foundation Board acted quickly, authorizing the responsible use of organizational reserves to fill the funding gap and ensure that youth continued to be served as intended. These reserves exist because of disciplined stewardship — years of careful saving and investment so the organization can respond to unexpected challenges without compromising its mission. We do not believe this situation affects the deductibility of any donation made through the platform, though donors should consult their own tax advisors.

We learned from the Flipcause failure and intentionally transitioned to a giving model that is part of a broader philanthropic infrastructure rather than relying on a single private vendor. As always, donations by check continue to be accepted, and we now process online gifts through Colorado Gives Day, operated by the Colorado Gives Foundation and powered by MightyCause. This approach provides greater oversight, transparency, and a more secure way for supporters to give with confidence.

This is a difficult time, but it does not change our commitment to the mission you have entrusted to us. Guided by donor intent and grounded in resilience — a core value of our work — we will continue carrying out our mission, stewarding resources responsibly, and serving youth across Colorado with integrity and resolve.

Thank you for your continued trust and support of CBR YouthConnect.
