At CBR YouthConnect, we believe true heroes are those who rise above challenges and choose to lift others up along the way. Abril is one of those heroes.
Her old laptop was unreliable—freezing, crashing, and often letting her down in the middle of critical assignments. But even when technology failed her, Abril never gave up. She pushed forward, found creative solutions, and did everything she could to keep her grades up. Her determination never wavered.
Once a student in need of academic support through the Whiz Kids tutoring program, Abril has come full circle. Today, she gives back by volunteering as a tutor with the very same program that once helped her succeed. She is now a role model for younger students, showing them that their circumstances do not define their future.
When Abril received a Special Opportunity Grant from CBR YouthConnect’s Hero-Within program, she used it to purchase a new laptop. For her, it wasn’t just a piece of equipment—it was a symbol of resilience, hope, and a stepping stone toward her dreams.
