Building Healthy Child-Animal Relationships: Interactive Workshop with the Adoption Options Parents

On November 8th, CBR Youth Connect partnered with Adoption Options once again to offer an interactive parent training focused on Building Healthy Child-Animal Relationships. Co-presented with Sheri Pass from Adoption Options, this workshop offered foster and adoptive parents helpful tools to support compassionate, safe, and empathetic connections between children and animals navigating big transitions in the home environment. Parents also received a resource guide filled with interactive activities and practical exercises to help families build and strengthen child-animal relationships in the home.

Parents learned to identify stress signals and safety considerations for animals, discussed common challenges and scenarios, and explored strategies to build trust and understanding between children and animals, especially during times of transition. From understanding animal body language communication to creating comforting routines and shared activities, this training emphasized the practical everyday strategies that support connection, growth, and resilience in both children and animals.

The training created a supportive and engaging space for caregivers to empower each other through shared experiences and build confidence in navigating the unique needs of both children and animals during times of transition and uncertainty. CBR Youth Connect is so grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Sheri Pass and Adoption Options in empowering families and strengthening human-animal connections!
